Argentarius was pleased to participate on the Gibraltar Finance events “Raising Capital in Europe” in Singapore on the 6th July 2015 and in Hong Kong on the 9th July 2015.
The delegation from Gibraltar included representatives from Gibraltar Finance, the Financial Services Commission and a group of professionals from the private sector including lawyers (Isolas, Hassans), accountants (Grant Thornton), fund administrators (GFIA, Vista), Insurance professionals and the Gibraltar Stock Exchange.
After the “warm and humid welcome” by the Hon Albert Isola MP, the Minister for Financial Services and Gaming, the technical sessions began with presentations for professionals in the funds and asset management sectors.
The sessions focused on marketing in the EU (passporting vs reserve solicitation), AIFMD solutions (Non-EU and Small AIFMs), fund structuring, a regulatory overview on the national private placement regimes and listing on the Gibraltar Stock Exchange.
The GSX presentation also shed some light on the launch of our ETI segment on the Exchange planned for this October. Listings of (asset backed) Exchange Traded Instruments backed by and linked to the value of a Gibraltar Special Purpose Vehicle (or also referred to as Special Investment Vehicle) allow for investment structures to be passported into the whole EU out of scope of the AIFMD.
Argentarius will act as arranger, calculation agent and listing agent for ETIs listed at GSX. Our new office in Gibraltar will also support the formation and management of SIVs as underlying for the ETIs from September onward.
Following the technical sessions, Minister Isola hosted financial services lunches in Singapore for almost one hundred and twenty professionals and in Hong Kong for over two hundred professionals.
We were pleased to discuss the arising questions during the lunch break receptions and looking forward to having follow up meetings later this year with the new business prospects we met.
We would like to thank the host – Gibraltar Finance – for organizing such an successful event and we look forward to participating on their future events.
